About Castaways

Castaways is located on Moreton Island, approximately 40km off Brisbane's coast. To reach the island, you'll need to book a ferry (passenger or 4WD). The Micat ferry departs from the Port of Brisbane and the journey takes about 90 minutes.

Once you arrive at Moreton Island, Castaways is situated in the township of Bulwer, a 20-minute drive north from the ferry landing at the Tangalooma Wrecks.

Regardless of the tide, you can reach Castaways from the Micat landing point by traversing the beach using the inland tracks. When you reach the Bulwer Wrecks, turn right and head into town to check-in at Castaways.

As Moreton Island has no sealed roads and is a sand island, a 4WD vehicle is required to access it. However, if you don't have one, don't worry! Castaways offers a transfer service that picks you and your luggage up from the Micat landing point at the Tangalooma Wrecks and drops you off there for your return journey. Make sure to include the transfer service when booking your accommodation, as the walk is quite long.
